Membership Application

Membership Categories

  1. 1
    Principal Full Member
    • The first individual employed by an organization whose primary business is development, ownership, management of or investment in industrial, office, mixed-use or related commercial real estate.
    • Requirements for membership include a complete membership application and remittance of the appropriate dues amount according to the current NAIOP dues schedule.

    Principal Affiliate Member

    • The second or third individual employed by the Principal firm, whose primary business is development, ownership, management of or investment in industrial, office mixed-use or related commercial real estate.
    • Requirements for membership include a complete membership application, remittance of the appropriate dues amount, according to the current NAIOP dues schedule, and the company name to check affiliation with a primary full member.

    Associate Full Member
    • The first individual employed by a company or organization who provides products or services to the industrial, office, mixed-use or related commercial real estate firm who belong to the same chapter.
    • Requirements for membership include a complete membership application and remittance of the appropriate dues amount according to the current NAIOP dues schedule.

    Associate Affiliate Member

    • The second or third individual employed by the Associate firm, who provides products or services to the industrial, office, mixed-use or related commercial real estate firm who belong to the same chapter.
    • Requirements for membership include a complete membership application, remittance of the appropriate dues amount, according to the current NAIOP dues schedule, and the company name to check affiliation with an associate full member.

    Developing Leader
    • An Individual involved as a developer, owner, investor, asset manager or those providing services in commercial real estate who is 35 years or younger when applying for membership.
    • NAIOP Developing Leaders must provide proof of age. A clear copy of the applicant’s government issued identification (driver’s license, birth certificate, or passport) must be submitted with the membership application. Membership will not be activated until NAIOP receives the required documentation.
    • NAIOP Developing Leaders membership is excluded from qualifying a company for a chapter-based corporate membership. o FOR EXAMPLE: ABC Real Estate has one Full member and one Affiliate member. If a third person joins from ABC Real Estate as a “NAIOP Developing Leaders” member, this does not qualify the fourth person from ABC Real Estate to be added at the corporate affiliate rate.

    Chapter Based Corporate Membership
    • The fourth or subsequent (*) individual employed by the Associate or Principal firm, who all belong to the same chapter.
    • Requirements for membership include a complete membership application, remittance of the appropriate dues amount, according to the current NAIOP dues schedule, and the company name to check affiliation with full and affiliate members.
    • ALL Chapter-Based Corporate Members must join the same chapter.

    Full Public Official
    • Any individual employed by a local, state or federal government or a non-profit organization.
    • Requirements for membership include a complete membership application, remittance of the appropriate dues amount according to the current NAIOP dues schedule and the name of the organization or government agency in which the applicant is employed.

    Affiliate Public Official
    • The second or subsequent person from the same organization joining the same chapter as the Full Public Official.
    • Requirements for membership include a complete membership application, remittance of the appropriate dues amount according to the current NAIOP dues schedule and the name of the organization or government agency in which the applicant is employed.

    Academia

    Any full-time professor who is not otherwise employed in the industrial, office, mixed-use or related commercial real estate industry.

    NAIOP Academicians must meet the following requirements:

    • A complete and current NAIOP membership application must be submitted. Applicants that do not supply at least a full name and physical address will be ineligible.
    • A copy of a current college or university identification card verifying employment must be provided.
    • Applicant must be a full-time employee, as defined by his/her university.
    • Applicant must not be employed full-time by a commercial real estate or related firm. Individuals employed on a part-time or temporary basis (temporary or limited employment, etc.) may be considered eligible.
    • Payment, according to the current NAIOP payment schedule, must accompany the membership application.
  8. 8
    Student

     

    Any full-time student who is not otherwise employed in the industrial, office, mixed-use or related commercial real estate industry.

    NAIOP Student members must meet the following requirements:

    • A complete and current NAIOP membership application must be submitted. Applicants that do not supply at least a full name and physical address will be ineligible.
    • Proof of full time student status must be received before membership can be confirmed. Otherwise, the applicant will remain ineligible for membership in the Student category and any dues paid shall be refunded. A copy of a current student identification card and class schedule should be provided as proof.
    • Applicant must be a full-time student, as defined by his/her university.
    • Applicant must not be employed full-time by a commercial real estate or related firm. Individuals employed on a part-time or temporary basis (internship, temporary or limited employment, etc.) may be considered eligible.
    • Payment, according to the current NAIOP payment schedule, must accompany the membership application.
    • Individuals joining online may fax the required information to (703) 904-7942, Attn: Student Membership.
    • Following graduation, a Student will no longer be able to renew his/her membership through the Student membership program.
    • The individual will be allowed to retain the membership through their expiration date.

    If, after graduation, he/she is qualified to continue membership in another membership category, the member will be contacted by NAIOP staff and instructed accordingly.

    This category does not renew automatically. You will be asked to provide documentation every year.

  9. 9
    University Membership

     

    • Available to colleges and universities offering undergraduate and/or graduate programs in real estate.
    • The college/university maintaining a University membership must designate a current employee (not a student) affiliated with the institution to serve as the point of contact for the membership.
    • Full-time students enrolled and pursuing a real estate degree in a college or university holding a NAIOP membership in this category will receive select NAIOP benefits.
    • University Membership fees are based on the number of students in your program.
