Meet the Leadership Panel

Introduction: Jim Costello, Senior Vice President, Real Capital Analytics

Jim Costello has worked in the CRE space on issues of urban economics since 1990, including a 20-year stint with CBRE’s Torto Wheaton Research team. Jim expanded the reach of Torto Wheaton Research developing forecasts of global market fundamentals. Jim also developed frameworks to interpret the forecasts in answer to investor questions on asset values and relative investment opportunities.

Jim provided advice to the Treasury Department in the aftermath of the Global Financial Crisis and helped educate these professionals on commercial real estate performance. Jim is a member of the Commercial Board of Governors of the Mortgage Bankers Association and is working there to help leading lenders understand how economic forces impact loan performance.

Jim is expanding the capabilities of the Real Capital Analytics team on issues of real estate market dynamics. Jim has a Master’s degree in economics and is a member of the Counselors of Real Estate.

Moderator: Eric Anton, Senior Managing Director, Marcus & Millichap

Mr. Anton is a Senior Managing Director in the New York City office of Marcus & Millichap with more than 25 years of experience in commercial real estate.  He is primarily responsible for investment sales transactions in the New York metropolitan area.  Throughout the course of his career, he has completed more than $12.5 billion in commercial real estate transactions, including landmark office, multi-housing, hotel and development site transactions.

Mr. Anton joined the firm June 2017.  Prior to joining Marcus & Millichap, he worked at HFF for three years, Brookfield Financial where he spent three years as a Managing Partner in the New York Office.  Prior to that, Mr. Anton spent time at Eastern Consolidated and Starrett Corporation.  He began his career with Bovis Lendlease,  an Australian-based global construction management firm.Michael Beyda is the principal of Benchmark Properties, a tenant-rep brokerage firm. He has been active in commercial real estate for the last 17 years, with a focus on office lease transactions in Midtown Manhattan.

Michael Beyda is the principal of Benchmark Properties, a tenant-rep brokerage firm. He has been active in commercial real estate for the last 17 years, with a focus on office lease transactions in Midtown Manhattan.

He has negotiated hundreds of transactions between Owners and Tenants, most recently completing a 31,000 square foot lease transaction at 1407 Broadway, an expansion to 57,000 square feet at 1411 Broadway, and a 20,000 square foot lease on 39th Street near Bryant Park.

Michael is also an active board member of SBH, an important social-services organization committed to assisting people with finding employment, providing transitional financial aid, food, clothing and other forms of help.

Panelist: Michael Kazmierski, Principal and Director of Aquisitions, Kaufman New Ventures

Mr. Kazmierski is Principal and Director of Acquisitions for Kaufman New Ventures. He holds a leading position in the sourcing, capitalization, underwriting and management of new acquisition opportunities of which total over $1 billion to-date. Prior to joining the Kaufman Organization, he held positions as both Associate Director of Business Development and Analyst at HFF, L.P. in the New York office. As lead analyst, Mr. Kazmierski closed approximately $600 million in transactions including stable and value-add apartments, retail, office, and industrial, as well as development transactions. Prior to joining HFF, Mr. Kazmierski was an Associate at Mesirow Financial Consulting in Boston, the previous restructuring practice of KPMG, where he performed a variety of restructuring and bankruptcy services. Mr. Kazmierski is an alumnus of Bentley University where he earned a B.S. and M.S. in Finance, with Honors. He also earned his M.S. in Real Estate Development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Panelist: David Levy, Principal, Adams & Company Real Estate, LLC

As one of Manhattan’s most active commercial real estate brokers, David Levy, principal of Adams & Company Real Estate, LLC., negotiates over 100 transactions each year totaling more than 17 million square- feet, with aggregate rent commitments in excess of five billion dollars. In addition to representing corporate tenants, he currently serves as exclusive agent for more than three million square-feet of commercial space in many prominent buildings. David’s client roster includes such prestigious fashion tenants as Perry Ellis International, Redcats USA, Citibank NA, New York Presbyterian Hospital, New York University, Armitron Watch Company and Weatherproof Company.

By cultivating exclusives and long-term relationships with local owners, developers and tenants, David has participated in lease acquisitions and dispositions for small to mid-sized firms as well as Fortune 500 companies. He also executes lease auditing and strategic development, implementation of occupancy cost reduction strategies and advanced lease renewals.
